About Attraction & Reaction

These large-scale oil paintings observe the figure in order to unravel the complicated nature of relationships. Painting directly from the model, I attempt to evoke both the emotional and physical strain these relationships carry.

This series of work can be seen as a study of the complex and sometimes precarious nature of personal relationships.  My fascination with human interaction and relational dynamics is evident in the solemnity of the figures and the perspective with which we enter the work.  These paintings give pause to a brief moment among the infinite we experience. Coupled or individually positioned, their casual self-reflection strings a tension through the work as though we are voyeurs to a visible but private moment.  The banality of the event only sweetens the purpose and sincerity with which the artist has investigated it.
